19 December Wedding Ideas With Greenery, Twinkling Lights and Festive Details

Looking for december wedding ideas with a little festive sparkle? Think greenery along the aisle, red dresses and a hot chocolate table with all the extras.

These ideas include small details you can borrow plus a few bigger decorating moments.

You can keep things simple or go all out. I especially love the burgundy flowers and glowing reception lights.

Start with your favorite colors, then pick the little touches you’d love to include in your day.

December Wedding Details Worth Saving

greenery along the aisle

We’re starting off with this pretty mix of trailing greenery and white flowers. I love how the branches follow the edge of the aisle, with a brown lantern beside the greenery.

Ask for a similar low arrangement if you want to decorate the aisle without adding tall stands. Keep the greenery outside the walking space.

bright red bridesmaid dresses

How gorgeous is this red beside the white wedding dress? The bridesmaid dresses have slim straps and long skirts, while the bridal gown has a buttoned back and floral detailing.

Try this bright red if you want a festive color without adding Christmas patterns.

a church full of lights

I am obsessed with this ceremony setting. The tall Christmas trees and swooping strings of lights look so pretty beneath the peaked ceiling.

There are even lights along the pews! If you love this all-out look, ask your venue which decorations are already included before planning anything extra.

build-your-own hot chocolate

Who wouldn’t want to stop at this little hot chocolate table? There are marshmallows, chocolate chips, peppermint candies and candy canes, plus syrups lined up behind them.

Give your toppings their own labeled jars like these. I’d keep the big sign too so guests can spot the station.

greenery arch and white drapes

Don’t want to cover your ceremony backdrop in flowers? No problem!

This dark rectangular frame has greenery draped across the top and down one side.

I love the white curtains behind it and the leafy arrangements at the base. Try amber uplighting if you want a similar glow.

shoulder wraps and leafy bouquets

This is such a pretty way to bring the bridal party looks together. The taupe-colored, fluffy shoulder wraps sit over burgundy and white dresses, with big greenery bouquets in front.

The bouquets are my favorite part here. Ask for loose, trailing branches if you like this less structured shape.

pinecones and berry centerpieces

If you love classic Christmas colors, this one is for you. Red berries and pinecones sit among green branches, with pale pillar candles and tall dark tapers above them.

For your own version, I’d use flameless pillars wherever the greenery sits close to the candles.

a snowy wedding portrait

How beautiful is this snowy scene? The black tuxedo and white strapless gown look lovely against the trees, with pale flowers lining the background.

If snow happens to arrive on your day, you could ask your photographer for a quick outdoor portrait. Keep a coat nearby rather than planning to stay outside in your dress.

a greenery ball with red ribbon

Looking for something a little different from a hand-tied bouquet? This round greenery arrangement hangs from a bright red ribbon, with tiny white accents tucked between the leaves.

I love how the ribbon matches the red cardigan. Keep that matching detail if you try a similar look.

a rose and pinecone boutonniere

This little boutonniere may just be one of my favorite details here. A red rose sits behind green sprigs and a pinecone, with a simple bow around the stems.

The burgundy checked jacket and dark patterned pocket square look so good beside it.

gold details and pale roses

If you are looking for a dressier table idea, then this one is for you. There’s plenty to love in this collage, from the gold-colored plate edges to the patterned goblets.

I especially love the pale roses tucked into the greenery. Try a printed menu on each plate to follow the same look.

a little sparkler station

How cute is this send-off display? Tall sparklers stand on either side of a framed sign, with a little candle lantern in front.

Keep the display simple like this if your venue allows sparklers. Arrange a supervised outdoor area and a safe disposal container for the actual send-off.

burgundy and cream bouquet

I am obsessed with this bouquet. The deep burgundy flowers and leaves look gorgeous beside the big cream blooms and smaller white clusters.

Ask for branching gray-green foliage around the edges if you want the same loose shape. The dark wrap around the stems is worth keeping too.

a festive drinks corner

This is another pretty way to decorate your drinks station. Pinecones and evergreen sprigs surround a dispenser, with glasses lined up beside it.

The photo shows a red drink being poured. For your own menu, you could choose mulled wine or a nonalcoholic spiced berry drink.

lanterns under a glowing canopy

Want to go all out with the reception lighting? Save this one. Round lanterns hang at different heights beneath the draped ceiling, with strings of tiny lights stretching across the space.

I love the chandelier in the middle. You could borrow this overhead arrangement for an indoor reception too.

a basket of guest blankets

This is such a thoughtful little setup for an outdoor ceremony. Rolled gray blankets fill a basket beside a framed sign that reads, “To have and to hold in case it gets cold.”

Place your own basket near the seating entrance so guests can pick one up before finding their chairs.

gingerbread-style wedding cakes

How adorable are these cake ideas? The little gingerbread-style figures, stars and white icing details are just too cute.

You can go with decorations around both tiers or ask for a smaller group on top. I’d keep the white frosting so those brown cookie shapes stand out.

pinecone card holders

If you’re looking for a small seasonal detail, go with these pinecone card holders. The pale cards sit among the scales, with more greenery behind the display.

Try arranging yours in tidy rows like these so guests can find their names without searching through a crowded table.

sculptural burgundy and white flowers

Last but definitely not least, we have this gorgeous burgundy and white bouquet. I love the tall curved calla shapes and the little flowers branching out to one side.

The broad white orchid petals look so pretty beside the rounded dark blooms. Save this as a shape and color reference for your florist, then discuss what’s available for your date.
