20 Bridesmaid Photo Ideas From Getting Ready to Group Hugs

Looking for bridesmaid photo ideas that go beyond standing in a straight line? Think matching slippers, bouquets held high and a little lipstick touch-up at the mirror.

These photos give you plenty to try with your group, from quiet getting-ready details to playful outdoor poses.

You can keep things simple or bring along heart-shaped sunglasses. Pick a few favorites to share with your photographer, then leave room for the laughs in between.

Bridesmaid photos worth saving

matching slippers in a circle

How cute is this getting-ready shot? The pink slippers form a circle around the bride’s white pair, with striped pajamas filling the edges.

Bring your feet close together and ask for a photo from above. Keep a little of the bride’s white robe in the frame too.

white flowers and pale yellow dresses

I love this close-up of white flowers against pale yellow dresses. You can see the little rings, pendant necklaces and long green stems without needing everyone’s faces in the photo.

Ask for a closer crop while you hold your bouquets at waist height.

robes and raised glasses

If you want a getting-ready photo with a little more energy, this one is for you. The bride sits in the middle while her bridesmaids gather around with raised arms, a bottle and a glass.

The slippers and shoes scattered below are such a fun part of this shot. You don’t have to tidy every little detail out of the frame.

a laughing walk across the lawn

This may just be one of my favorite bridesmaid photo ideas. I love the little floral prints on the dresses and the bride turning toward her bridesmaid mid-laugh.

Walk together rather than looking straight at the camera. Let your photographer catch the conversation along the way.

bouquets up in the garden

Don’t want everyone facing the same direction? No problem!

This group spreads out across the lawn with bouquets lifted and arms out wide. The bride’s long white veil is so pretty between the pale yellow dresses.

gathered around the veil

There’s so much to love about this photo, from the sage-colored dresses to the white flowers. My favorite part is how everyone gathers around the bride while her veil stretches across the frame.

Ask your photographer to keep shooting while your bridesmaids help arrange your veil and train. Those little adjustments deserve a photo too.

lipstick at the mirror

How adorable is this mirror photo? The bride applies lipstick in front while the bridesmaids lean into the reflection behind her.

Gather at a large mirror for your last touch-ups. Let everyone look at their reflection instead of turning toward the camera.

white parasols under the trees

I am obsessed with these white parasols. Some are held overhead while others sit lower beside the dresses, so you can still see everyone’s faces.

Keep your bouquets in the shot too. The white flowers look lovely with the pale dresses and the bride’s train spread out in front.

a bouquet jump

Want a break from the standing portraits? This jumping shot is so fun, especially with the bouquets raised overhead and the mint-colored skirts caught midair.

If everyone is happy to try it, choose a clear, level spot and let your photographer count you in.

black-and-white staircase portrait

If you’re looking for something a little more formal, go with this staircase arrangement. The bride stands in the center while bridesmaids sit and stand on different steps around her.

Ask for a black-and-white version like this one. I love the pale bouquets against the dark dresses.

the bride looking back

This is such a pretty twist on a group lineup. The bridesmaids face away with their arms around one another while the bride turns back toward the camera.

Leave room below for your whole train. The spread-out floral detail is one of my favorite parts of this photo.

heart sunglasses and peace signs

OMG, how cute are these heart-shaped sunglasses? The white frames look so good with the blue dresses.

You can follow this group with peace signs, raised arms and a couple of bridesmaids leaning into the front. No need for everyone to copy the same pose.

a getting-ready bottle spray

Looks like the celebration has already started! The spray fills the space above this group while everyone crowds together in pale pink and white getting-ready outfits.

If you’re planning a bottle-spray photo, check with your venue first and aim away from faces. Have your photographer ready before you begin.

a solo flower-wall moment

Don’t forget a solo photo for each bridesmaid. This pink dress looks gorgeous against the wall of purple, blush and bright pink flowers.

Try a small turn while holding the edge of your skirt, like this pose. I’d keep the full dress in the frame.

heads together with bouquets behind

This is another lovely back-facing photo, but everyone leans inward this time. I love how the lowered bouquets make a row of greenery across the pale dresses.

Place the bride in the middle and spread her veil behind the group. Then bring your heads close together for the shot.

bouquets above a pink convertible

That pink convertible is too cute! The group turns toward the camera with white bouquets raised above the car, surrounded by rows of palm trees.

If you have a convertible available, ask about recreating this with the car safely parked. Keep the rear of the car in the photo rather than cropping it out.

a circle seen from below

Looking for a different angle? Gather in a circle and look down toward the camera for a shot like this one.

The orange, coral and cream flowers look so pretty around the edges. Hold your bouquets below your faces so everyone can be seen.

shadow hearts and raised glasses

Don’t want another face-forward pose? No problem there!

This photo captures just the group’s shadows, with glasses held high and a little hand-shaped heart on the left.

a beach photo with a sandy message

I love this beach photo with the golden light and the dresses sweeping out to the sides. The little “I DO” written in the sand is such a sweet finishing touch.

For your own version, leave space in front of the group for the message. Turn slightly toward one another instead of forming a straight line.

an arm-in-arm walk

Last but definitely not least, we have this sweet walking photo. The trio has their arms around one another, with bouquets held out to the sides and their backs to the camera.

Try this with a smaller group after your larger portraits. I love how close everyone stays as they walk.
