Wedding invitation ideas worth saving

gold edges and a black band

We’re starting off with a little gold alongside the black and white. I love the sweeping white initials on the black band.

The shiny gold-colored edge makes this invitation a dressier option.

If you want to stay strictly monochrome, ask for a black outer border instead.

black wrap and white initials band

How pretty is this folded black wrap? The white band keeps the initials small and simple, with matching monograms repeated on the white cards.

Try the same mix of flowing script headings and spaced-out capital letters if you want your inserts to follow this look.

overlapping line borders

If you’re looking for something a little more graphic, this one is for you. Thin white lines overlap around the black invitation, while the smaller white cards reverse the colors.

That round black envelope seal is such a cute finishing detail.

floral liner and black folder

This floral envelope liner may just be one of my favorites here. I love the large black flower drawing tucked inside the white envelope.

The open black folder holds a much simpler bordered invitation. Keep that mix if you want flowers without putting them on every card.

spaced lettering and pale flowers

Don’t want to go overboard with decorative lettering? No problem!

This set uses capital letters for the names and headings, with plenty of space around them. The pale floral liner adds a pretty detail without changing the simple white cards.

large initials and a white seal

I am obsessed with these oversized overlapping initials. They take up the top of the invitation while the wedding wording stays much smaller underneath.

The pale wrap has a white seal with a little botanical impression. Try a matching seal if you want an extra detail without adding another color.

bows and celebration drawings

How adorable are these little drawings? There are bows around the invitation, a cake and stacked glasses on the menu, plus a church on one of the details cards.

You don’t have to choose just one illustration. Ask for a few related drawings across your stationery if you love this playful look.

a dark bow and map liner

This is such a pretty way to bundle your cards. The big dark bow sits across white invitations with uneven edges, while a map illustration fills the envelope liner.

For your own version, you could choose a map of the city where you’re getting married.

oversized lettering

If you are looking for a true eye-catcher, then this one is for you. The lettering stretches right across the cards, with a mix of black and white backgrounds.

I especially love the little scalloped border on the date card. There’s already so much personality here that I’d leave off extra bows or bands.

a clear invitation and dark inserts

Want something different from a white invitation? This see-through design has flowing white names surrounded by smaller white lettering.

Dark reply and details cards sit alongside it.

The gold-colored seal and fine strands around the envelope add another color. You could switch those to white for a more strictly black-and-white version.

flowers down one side

I love this invitation with its flowers running down the right edge and around the bottom. The names sit to the left with a large handwritten-style “and” between them.

If you’re building a suite around this card, try repeating one small flower on the reply card.

a floral band and monogram liner

This is another gorgeous way to bring flowers into your stationery. White floral outlines cover the translucent band, with black-bordered cards showing through underneath.

The envelope keeps things simpler with a large monogram on its white liner. I’d keep that combination rather than adding another floral pattern inside.

black and gold scrollwork

This one steps away from black and white into black and gold. The ornate borders, decorative crest and long pale-gold tassels are worth a look if you love a more elaborate invitation.

For a monochrome adaptation, ask for white lettering and white scrollwork on the black cards instead of the gold-colored details shown here.

black bow and matching monograms

I am obsessed with this little black bow. The gold-colored seal sits right in the middle, with layered black-and-white cards behind it.

The same monogram appears on the envelope liners and white stationery. Try repeating your initials like this if you want the whole suite to feel connected.

arched cards and curved headings

Don’t want flowers or decorative borders? No problem there!

This white invitation has a rounded top, while the black cards have sweeping curved edges. I love how the small headings follow those curves.

floral liner and rounded reply card

This is another floral envelope idea, but it’s a little different from the ones above. The liner has a dense grayscale flower arrangement rather than a simple outline drawing.

The white invitation stays plain beside it. That tall rounded reply card is a lovely shape to bring into your own suite.

black borders and a white band

If you are looking for something simple and classic, this one is for you. Large names sit on a white invitation with a wide black border.

The bundled version has a white band with two initials and a small leafy detail. That’s all the decoration I’d add here.

a photo foldout

How cute are the little timeline icons? This folded invitation puts the wedding wording in the middle, extra details on the left and the order of the day on the right.

A black-and-white couple photo appears on the other view. Try this format if you’d rather combine your information than use several loose inserts.

a portrait on black

I love this darker photo invitation. Tall white names sit down the left side, with a black-and-white portrait filling the right.

The curved edge beside the photo is a pretty change from a straight dividing line. Keep any matching inserts simple if you want the portrait to remain the main detail.

a venue drawing and celebration card

Last but definitely not least, we have this lovely illustrated invitation. The building drawing sits above large script names, with a thin border around the card.

The reply card has its own little bottles-and-glasses illustration. Ask for a drawing of your venue if you want to make this idea your own.
