Looking for neutral wedding guest outfits that go beyond a plain beige dress? Think chocolate brown, draped necklines and wide-leg pants with a pretty one-shoulder top.
These looks give you plenty to choose from, whether you like simple accessories or a little extra shine.
Check the invitation before choosing your look. Some ideas here are more casual or revealing, while the white and very pale outfits need the couple’s explicit approval.
You can also borrow their shapes in a deeper neutral.
Neutral outfit ideas to save for your next wedding
taupe draping and wide-leg pants
We’re starting off strong with this gorgeous taupe pants look. I love the draped neckline and the long panel falling from one shoulder.
The pale rectangular clutch is such a pretty finishing touch.

Try drop earrings and a few gold-tone bracelets to follow the accessories here.
ribbed dress and printed heels
How cute are these pointed shoes? The striped print and circular strap details bring something fun to the beige dress.
I especially love how the ribbed lines change direction around the waist.
Keep a small black bag like this one if you want to repeat the darker details in the shoes.
brown skirt and black flats
Don’t want to wear heels? This brown midi skirt and black Mary Jane pairing is a lovely starting point for a casual wedding.
The loose black button-front layer keeps the outfit understated.
I’d swap the oversized black bag for a little clutch to make it feel more dressed up.
one-shoulder tops and flared pants
I am obsessed with these one-shoulder tops. The full sleeve and wide cuff are so pretty beside the simple navy and caramel pants.
Choose caramel if you want the earthier combination. A pale clutch like the ones here keeps the accessories simple.
collared top and wrap skirt
If you are looking for matching separates, this one is for you. The taupe collared top has turned-back cuffs, with a wrap-style skirt gathered at one side.
I’d add dark brown pointed shoes and small gold-tone earrings. That side gathering is pretty enough without a statement belt.
chocolate and glossy taupe
This may just be one of my favorite combinations here. I love the dark brown one-shoulder top against the lighter, glossy taupe skirt.
The little brown clutch ties the shades together.
Keep the chunky gold-tone hoops if you want to try the same look.
gray-olive maxi and tan accessories
Love a long dress without lots of decoration? This gray-olive one-shoulder maxi is so pretty on its own.
The crinkled surface and diagonal neckline give you plenty to look at.
The tan textured bag and flat slides lean casual. For a dressier invitation, I’d try a small evening bag and delicate heeled sandals instead.
camel cowl neck
Sometimes a simple dress is all you need. This camel design has a draped cowl neck, a defined waist and a gently flared skirt.
Try a brown clutch and gold-tone drop earrings if you want to build an outfit around it. I’d leave the neckline without a necklace.
off-shoulder beige
I love this wide off-the-shoulder foldover. The little openwork pattern across it looks so pretty above the plain fitted skirt.
The long clear drop earrings are a lovely choice here. Try your hair in a low bun like this to keep those details on show.
brown blazer and pale dress
This is a pretty way to pair an oversized brown blazer with a long cream dress. The pointed strappy shoes and little tan bag keep the accessories in the same color family.

The cream dress is one to change for a wedding unless the couple has approved it. I’d try a medium taupe dress underneath instead.
strapless buttons and floral pants
The tiny buttons on this strapless top are so cute! It sits over wide-leg pants with an open floral pattern, with an olive clutch adding a darker shade.
This white outfit reads bridal rather than like a standard guest look. Unless white is specifically requested, borrow the combination in chocolate or taupe instead.
sheer taupe separates
If you love matching separates, there’s a lovely idea here in the loose collared shirt and long taupe skirt. White pointed shoes match the pale bag.

The shirt and lower skirt are visibly sheer. For a wedding version, I’d choose an opaque top and a fully lined skirt in the same shade.
taupe maxi and bold cuff
This long taupe dress is gorgeous. I love the narrow straps and all those fine crinkles down the skirt.
The chunky gold-tone cuff is my favorite accessory here.
Pair yours with black strappy sandals and a patterned clutch to follow this combination.
one-shoulder tan mini
Prefer a shorter dress? This tan mini has a simple one-shoulder neckline, with little bows on the pointed shoes.
The pale shoulder bag keeps everything tonal.

Save the short hem for a wedding with a relaxed dress code. A knee-length version would be my suggestion if you want more coverage.
long draped top and pale pants
How pretty is that diagonal hem? The pale taupe top falls a long way down one side over white wide-leg pants.
Large gold-tone earrings finish the look.

For a wedding without an approved pale palette, I’d keep this shape but choose a deeper taupe top and brown pants.
flutter sleeves and ruffled hem
If you love a little ruffle, this dress has such a pretty one. It runs diagonally across the skirt and falls into a longer hem, with wide flutter sleeves above.

The high neckline looks lovely with the gold-tone earrings. For a less pale version, I’d look for the same details in camel or mocha.
chocolate dress and matching scarf
I am obsessed with this chocolate brown dress. The strapless neckline and matching long scarf are gorgeous together.
You really don’t need much extra decoration here.
Keep the slim bracelets and dark strappy heels if you want the same simple finish.
pale halter and gold details
The little gold-colored accents scattered over this halter dress are so pretty. I love how the bangle picks up those details without adding a big necklace.
This is another very pale option to clear with the couple first. For a darker alternative, try a taupe halter dress with gold-tone accessories.
sage draping and dark olive
Last but definitely not least, we have this lovely sage and dark olive pairing. The long draped top looks so pretty above the straight skirt, especially with those gold-tone sandals.
The colorful fan-shaped clutch and coral-colored earrings are a fun change from the neutral accessories above. Keep those touches if you want a little color.
