Looking for footprint crafts with cute little details? Think butterfly wings, a red-nosed reindeer and yellow ducks with tiny orange beaks.
These ideas turn prints into holiday pictures, animal art and keepsakes you can personalize with a name or date.
You can keep things simple or add a little sparkle. There are also two handprint pictures in this selection, so those are called out below. For printing with children, use paint labeled for their age and for skin contact.
Footprint and handprint ideas worth saving
red-nosed reindeer
We’re starting off strong with this adorable reindeer keepsake. I love the sparkly gold-colored antlers and that big red nose.
The toe impressions sit at the top while the heel becomes the bottom of the face.
If you want to follow this design, keep the eyes above the nose and let the antlers spread out on both sides.
colorful butterfly wings
How cute are these butterflies? Each pair of footprints makes the wings, with a slim black body and curly antennae between them. The purple one is especially pretty.
Try your child’s favorite color for the wings. A name and date along the bottom would make your version a lovely little keepsake.
thanksgiving turkey
This turkey may just be one of my favorites here. The yellow, orange and pink footprint cutouts make such a cute fan of feathers behind the brown body.
Keep the greeting on the belly if you’re making your own Thanksgiving version. Those little orange feet are worth including too.
angel with sparkling wings
I love this white angel against the teal background. A footprint forms the body while handprints spread out as wings, with sparkling outlines around the fingers.
For a similar picture, add a little halo above the round head. You could leave room underneath for your own short message.
smiling footprint santa
Isn’t that little smile adorable? This pinkish-red footprint becomes Santa with a red hat, white beard and black belt.
The raised mitten hands make him look like he’s waving hello.
If you try this idea, keep the toes pointing down and add the face near the heel.
ghosts by the tree
The Halloween fans are going to love this! Two pale footprint ghosts float beside a brown tree under a big yellow moon.
Their black eyes and open mouths are all the faces need.

Choose a dark background for your version so the light prints show up clearly.
orange and blue handprint fish
These smiling fish are so cute, but this picture uses handprints rather than footprints. The fingers fan out behind the orange and blue bodies, with white bubbles rising above them.
Save this as a handprint companion idea. I especially love the tall green seaweed along the bottom.
olaf on blue
Calling all Frozen fans, this Olaf-inspired print is adorable. The white footprint has black buttons down the middle, twig-like arms and a big smiling face above it.
Try leaving a blue border around your finished character like this one. There’s even space beside the body for a name.
purple print bouquets
Who says you need to draw every flower? These purple toe-and-forefoot prints sit on green stems, making little bouquets across the white backgrounds.
I love how some bunches are full while others have just a few blooms. You could choose either arrangement without adding anything else around it.
roar-some green jaws
How cute is this Father’s Day picture? Two green footprints meet at the heels to make a wide-open mouth, with white triangular teeth lining the gap.
The big googly eye is my favorite part. Pair your own version with the same playful “ROAR-some” message if you want a dinosaur-themed card.
sparkling christmas tree
I am obsessed with this little Christmas tree. The green footprints angle together beneath a yellow star, with the toes making the wide bottom edge.
Those sparkling garland lines are such a pretty detail. For your version, a painted garland could give you a similar pattern without loose glitter.

blue footprint ornament
Don’t want to turn the print into an animal or holiday character? This pale blue ornament keeps the footprint itself as the whole design.
I love the visible toe impressions and the white bow at the top.
sunflower on black
If you love bright colors against black, this one is for you. A yellow sunflower sits above a green footprint stem, beside a large yellow print shape on the left.
The flower’s orange shading is especially pretty. You could borrow just the sunflower-and-green-footprint pairing for a smaller picture.
bunnies with white tails
These little bunny backs are too cute. The tan footprints have long ears above the heels and round white tails near the toes.
Green grass and pastel eggs fill the bottom edge.
For your own Easter picture, keep the bunny plain and put the patterns on the eggs.
handprint owls on branches
Here’s the second handprint idea in the selection, rather than a footprint design. Two brown owls sit on opposite sides of a tree, with the fingers hanging below the branches.
Those oversized round eyes are adorable. If you’re trying this handprint version, keep the little yellow beaks and feet too.
love in black and white
Don’t want lots of colors or extra decorations? This one keeps things simple with two black footprints forming the V in “love.”
The sweeping letters and tiny red heart are so pretty together.
You could add your child’s name in a lower corner without crowding the prints.
mommy’s little pumpkin
This is such a sweet way to use a pair of orange prints. The heels overlap at the bottom while a dark stem and green leaf turn the shape into a pumpkin.
I love the orange background too. Add your own child’s name below the cutout if you’re making a similar fall keepsake.
rainbow row of prints
Why choose one color when you can use a whole rainbow? These overlapping footprints move from red through orange, yellow, green, blue and purple.
The prints don’t need to match perfectly for this arrangement. I’d keep those lighter patches and little overlaps just as they are.
smiling jellyfish
That little jellyfish face is adorable! A sideways footprint forms the body, with purple wavy tentacles underneath and two googly eyes above the smile.
Try a few green lines for seaweed around your own version. The picture here leaves plenty of open space around the jellyfish.
yellow footprint ducks
Last but definitely not least, we have these sweet yellow ducks. The sideways footprints become the bodies, with round heads, orange beaks and tiny black eyes added above the heels.
I love how the toes make the tails. You could leave the background white like this or add a blue waterline underneath.
