Looking for classy winter event outfits for your next dinner or party? Burgundy suits, sparkling dresses and cream separates give you plenty to choose from.
There are a few simpler daytime looks here too, plus dressier ideas for evenings when you want a little more shine.
You can keep things simple or go all out. Start with your event’s dress code, then pick the details you love.
The bare-shoulder looks are indoor inspiration, so plan extra coverage for cold weather.
Winter event outfit ideas worth saving
camel coat and black mini
We’re starting off strong with this black mini dress and long camel coat. I love the high neckline with those layered gold-tone necklaces.
Black tights and slouchy heeled boots complete the collage.
Try the teardrop earrings if you want another little touch of gold.
burgundy suit and tie
Who says you have to wear a dress? This burgundy suit is so pretty with its wide-leg trousers and white shirt.
The brown tie is a detail I’d definitely keep.

Let the white cuffs show below your jacket sleeves, then add chunky gold-tone bangles like these.
white wrap and sparkling necklace
I am obsessed with this black-and-white combination. The fluffy white wrap sits around a strapless black neckline, with a sparkling drop necklace right above it.
If you have a simple black dress, try a statement necklace like this for your next dressy dinner.
cream skirt and black layers
If you are looking for something understated, this one is for you. A cream midi skirt sits between a black high-neck top and tall pointed boots, with a long black coat over everything.
The black-and-white patterned bag is my favorite little extra here.
gold sparkle and flared cuffs
How pretty is this gold mini dress? The all-over sparkle is gorgeous, but those flared cuffs may just be my favorite part.
I’d keep accessories simple and let the dress have its moment.
cream separates and brown accents
Don’t want to go all out for a daytime gathering? Try this cream high-neck sweater with matching pleated trousers.
I love the raised cable pattern and the slim brown belt.

Add a small brown top-handle bag to follow the same color combination.
burgundy gown with a rosette
This burgundy gown may just be one of my favorites here. The oversized rosette at the hip is so pretty beside the gathered skirt and high slit.
The long matching scarf drapes around the neck and down both sides. I’d skip a necklace with this one.
brown mini and tall boots
How cute is this off-the-shoulder mini? The wide folded neckline and loose sleeves look lovely with a slim belt at the waist.

Follow the brown color palette with a matching shoulder bag and tall boots. The dark tights are part of this look too.
black suit with gold details
If you love black outfits with a little something extra, save this collage. The fitted jacket has an asymmetric front and a large gold-tone spiral detail at the waist.
Pair it with wide-leg black trousers and pointed pumps. The round ridged earrings are such a pretty finishing touch.
deep green gown and cape
I am in love with this deep green combination. The long gown pools at the hem beneath a short fluffy cape in a similar shade.
Try a small pale clutch like the one here if you want an accessory that doesn’t disappear against all that green.
long gloves and a glittery clutch
Want to dress up a simple black look? These long black gloves are such a lovely place to start.
The high neckline and narrow belt keep the outfit understated while the glittery clutch adds plenty of shine.
brown sweater and checked skirt
This is actually one of my favorite daytime combinations. I love the long checked skirt with the oversized brown turtleneck. The matching checked bag is so cute!
Try a wide brown belt at the waist and pointed brown boots beneath the front opening.
blue patterned cape
Don’t want to add sparkle to your outfit? No problem!
This blue-and-black patterned cape gives a plain black top and cropped trousers something a little different.
The pointed black pumps keep things simple. I especially like the small brown patterned clutch beside the blue.
silver pleats and gray cardigan
I am obsessed with this silver pleated skirt. It’s so pretty with the gray button-front cardigan worn slightly off one shoulder.
A chunky necklace and small black bag finish the outfit. Try this combination if you’d rather dress up separates than wear a party dress.
white layers and gold chains
If you are looking for lots of accessory inspo, then this one is for you. There’s a gold-tone chain around the white hat, layered necklaces and a wide chain-style belt.
The white coat, high-neck top and wide-leg trousers keep the clothing in one color family. Choose just the belt if you’d prefer fewer gold details.
ribbed dress and western boots
The brown boots are my favorite part of this outfit. Their light decorative stitching looks so pretty beside the pale ribbed dress.
Try a wide brown belt and matching bag to follow this look. The open standing collar leaves room for layered necklaces too.
white cardigan with jeweled trim
How adorable is this cardigan? The sparkling trim follows the V-neckline, with little embellishments scattered across the front and sleeves.
It’s shown with white jeans for a more casual combination. For a dressier gathering, I’d try it with cream tailored trousers instead.
black jumpsuit with sparkling shoulders
Not in the mood for a dress or a matching suit? This black jumpsuit is another gorgeous option.
I love the silver-colored strands extending from the shoulders down the upper sleeves.
The deep V-neck and flared legs already give you plenty to work with. Small drop earrings are all I’d add.
burgundy skirt and black top
This is a lovely way to wear burgundy without choosing a full gown. The glossy midi skirt looks so pretty with the sleeveless black high-neck top and strappy black heels.
Keep the little black clutch if you’re recreating this combination. Those long sparkling earrings are worth saving too.
matching taupe layers
Last but definitely not least, we have this pretty taupe outfit. I love the matching ribbed top and midi skirt beneath the long coat.
The tall boots and structured bag stay close to the same shade. Add small gold-tone hoops and a fine necklace if you want to follow the accessories here.
