Too many craft ideas open in too many tabs, am I right? You want something for the neighborhood kids to make this Easter and instead you get a hundred pins that need a router or a table saw. Not exactly a Tuesday afternoon project, lol!
This list fixes that problem! Every idea here uses wood pieces that are cheap and easy to find, think popsicle sticks, clothespins, wood slices and basic wood cutouts from the craft aisle.
Hundreds of pins got scrolled through to build this one. Anything that needed power tools or a full workshop got skipped. What stayed are the projects a kid can actually help finish, start to end!
You will find little bunnies, painted eggs, garlands, wreaths and even a puzzle or two. Some are decor, some are toys. A few make sweet little gifts for grandparents.
Grab some paint, a hot glue gun and whatever wood scraps are sitting in the garage. Most of these come together in an afternoon with almost no cleanup drama!
Scroll through, pick a few favorites and see what the neighborhood kids gravitate toward. Some of these are simple enough for little hands, others are better with an adult holding the glue gun. Either way, there is something here for every skill level, who doesn’t love that?
EASTER WOOD CRAFTS
Painted Wooden Easter Eggs
Wooden eggs are basically a blank canvas waiting to happen. A quick coat of gesso and they hold paint way better than plastic ones ever do.
Dot them, stripe them, splatter them, it honestly does not matter! Every single one turns out different, which is half the fun. A dozen eggs can each look like they came from a different craft box entirely.
- No two eggs match
- Dries in under an hour
- Paint pens work great here
Popsicle Stick Easter Basket
This basket skips the whole weaving struggle. Glue popsicle sticks into a simple box shape and let the paint do the heavy lifting.
A pipe cleaner handle finishes it off. It looks like a whole afternoon of effort, but really it was twenty minutes, haha!
- Twenty minutes, tops
- No weaving required
- Holds a small candy stash
Clothespin Easter Bunnies
Clothespins make surprisingly good bunny bodies once you add ears and a pom pom tail. They clip right onto ribbon, a basket rim or even curtains.
This is one of those crafts where the pieces are small enough that a nephew can lose one under the couch immediately, lol! How cute is this?
- Clips right onto anything
- Pom pom tail included
- Felt ears cut in minutes
Wooden Spoon Bunny Puppets
Wooden spoons turn into puppets faster than you would think. Paint the bowl of the spoon white, add ears and a face, done!
Kids can put on a whole backyard puppet show with these. Not that I’m rating puppet shows on a scale, but this one would win, haha!
- Instant backyard theater
- Dollar store spoons work fine
- Felt scraps for ears
Easter Egg Wood Garland
String a row of tiny painted wood eggs onto twine and suddenly a plain mantel looks finished. This one doubles as a fun garland for a front window too.
Space the eggs unevenly so the whole strand feels a little more relaxed. Perfectly even always looks store bought. Not in a good way!
- Mantel decor in one strand
- Twine from the junk drawer
- Eggs painted in an afternoon
Wood Cutout Chick Craft
Wood cutout chicks are ridiculously easy to love. A round body, a small triangle beak, an orange felt foot, that is basically the whole shopping list.
Line a row of them up on a windowsill. They look like they are having a little meeting, haha!
- Windowsill meeting material
- Craft aisle cutouts
- Felt beak and feet
Mini Wood Carrot Ornaments
Mini wood carrots make surprisingly charming ornaments. Paint the base orange, add green fabric or paper for the top and hang them from anything.
They work on a spring tree, tucked into a basket or strung along a garland. Small, cheap and weirdly cute, who doesn’t love that?
- Tiny but mighty cute
- Green ribbon for the top
- Great filler for baskets
Wooden Bunny Door Hanger
A wooden bunny door hanger greets everyone before they even ring the bell. Cut the shape from plywood or grab a pre-cut blank from the craft store.
Add a bow at the neck and a coat of paint. This one gets more compliments from neighbors than almost anything else on this list!
- First thing guests notice
- Pre-cut blanks save time
- Ribbon bow at the neck
Craft Stick Chick Puppets
Craft stick chick puppets are the kind of project that keeps a rainy afternoon interesting. Glue a paper chick face onto the stick and let kids act it out.
They are light enough for tiny hands to hold up for a long puppet show. This one always ends up starring in a homemade play, lol!
- Star of the homemade play
- Paper cutouts included
- Light enough for little hands
Painted Wood Block Bunnies
Wood blocks stacked and painted into bunny shapes make a sturdy little decoration. These can survive being knocked off a shelf, which matters more than you would think.
Sand the edges first so they feel smooth. A simple face painted on the top block finishes the whole look. A tiny nose dot in pink adds a nice finishing touch too.
- Survives a shelf tumble
- Scrap wood blocks work
- Sanded edges feel smooth
Wooden Egg Sorting Toy
This wooden egg sorting toy doubles as a quiet activity for younger cousins. Eggs in different sizes drop into matching holes on a painted board.
It teaches shapes and colors without anyone realizing it is educational. Sneaky, in the best way!
- Sneaky learning toy
- Wooden eggs in varied sizes
- Painted board sorts by color
Easter Bunny Wood Plaque
A wood plaque with a painted bunny silhouette makes a sweet little sign for a front porch or a kitchen shelf. Stencil the shape first so the lines stay clean.
Add a short word underneath like hop or spring. Simple! It looks handmade in the best way.
- Porch sign, homemade version
- Stencil keeps lines clean
- One coat of chalk paint
Clothespin Carrot Craft
Clothespins painted orange with a green top glued on look exactly like tiny carrots. Clip a whole bunch onto a ribbon for instant garland.
This one is basically the little sibling of the clothespin bunny earlier on this list. Same glue, same twenty minutes, same happy toddler.
- Clothespin bunny’s little sibling
- Clips onto ribbon or twine
Wooden Bunny Ears Headband
Wooden bunny ears glued onto a plain headband turn any kid into the Easter mascot for the afternoon. Felt lining on the inside of the ears adds a nice detail.
These hold up better than the floppy fabric versions from the store. Worth the extra ten minutes, honestly!
- Sturdier than store bought
- Fits over a plain headband
Popsicle Stick Bunny Frame
Popsicle sticks glued into a simple frame shape hold a photo of the family bunny hunt from last year. Really any spring photo works just as well.
Paint the frame pastel and glue tiny bunny cutouts around the edge. It looks like something from a boutique shelf but costs almost nothing, lol!
- Boutique look, dollar store price
- Holds a standard photo size
- Bunny cutouts around the border
Wood Slice Egg Ornaments
Wood slices painted into little eggs are one of the prettiest things on this whole list. The natural wood grain peeks through the paint for a rustic touch.
String a ribbon through the top of each one. They look incredible bundled together or scattered individually across a table, am I right?
- Grain peeks through the paint
- Rustic and modern at once
Easter Tree Wooden Eggs
An Easter tree made from a few bare branches in a vase holds mini wooden egg ornaments beautifully. This one has become a popular alternative to the traditional egg basket.
Branches from the yard work perfectly, no need to buy anything fancy for the base. A coffee can wrapped in twine makes a nice little holder too.
- Vase or pitcher as the base
Wooden Spool Bunny Craft
Old wooden spools make surprisingly good bunny bodies once painted white and topped with ears. Thrift stores usually have a bin of these for almost nothing.
Glue on a pom pom tail and a painted face. These little guys look great lined up on a windowsill or tucked into a basket!
- Pom pom tail
- Painted face detail
Craft Stick Easter Wreath
Craft sticks arranged into a wreath shape and painted pastel colors make a surprisingly sturdy door decoration. Add a few paper eggs and a ribbon bow.
This one holds up outdoors better than paper wreaths do. Rain is not really a threat to a wood one!
- Handles a little rain
Wood Bunny Puzzle Piece
A bunny shaped puzzle cut from a single wood board is a fun weekend project for older kids. Cut it into six or eight pieces and let them paint each section before assembling.
This one turns into a toy that gets used well past the holiday, which is a nice bonus. Who doesn’t love a craft that earns its keep all year?
- Toy that outlasts the holiday
- Six to eight puzzle pieces
Painted Wooden Carrot Stakes
Painted wood stakes shaped like carrots make a fun little addition to a garden bed or a flower pot. Push them into the soil next to real seedlings for a cute contrast.
Orange and green paint, that is the whole supply list! Weatherproof sealant keeps them looking fresh through spring rain.
- Cute contrast in the garden
- Push into soil or pots
- Sealant handles spring rain
Wood Slice Photo Ornament
A wood slice photo ornament turns a favorite snapshot into a keepsake. Print the photo small, mod podge it onto the slice and add a ribbon loop.
Grandparents tend to love these more than almost anything else on this list, if we’re being honest, haha!
- Grandparents love this one most
- Mod podge seals the photo
Wooden Egg Stacking Blocks
Wooden eggs sized for stacking make a fun building toy for toddlers and a decor piece for everyone else. Paint each one a different pastel shade.
Stack them into a little pyramid on a shelf when nobody is playing with them. Function and decor in one, honestly a win!
- Toy by day, decor by night
- Pastel shades for each egg
- Stacks into a small pyramid
Popsicle Stick Carrot Bundle
Bundle a few painted popsicle stick carrots together with twine for a sweet little table accent. Prop the bundle in a small mason jar for extra charm.
This is a two minute project once the sticks are already painted and dry. Same trick works for napkin bundles at each place setting!
- Table accent in two minutes
- Twine bundle, mason jar prop
- Sticks dry the day before
Craft Stick Bunny Mask
A bunny mask built from a fan of craft sticks glued to a paint stirrer handle is an instant dress up prop. Paint the sticks white and add pink felt ears.
Kids can hold it up to their face for photos. Or they can run around the yard pretending to be the Easter bunny for the afternoon!
- Instant dress up prop
Wood Cutout Easter Sign
A wood cutout sign with a simple word like hoppy or spring makes a great mantel piece. Stencil letters keep things looking sharp without any fancy handwriting skills.
Distress the edges lightly with sandpaper for a worn, farmhouse look. This one fits right in with most home decor styles already on the shelf.
- Fits any farmhouse shelf
- Stenciled letters, no freehand needed
- Light sanding for a worn look
Clothespin Chick Craft
Clothespins painted yellow with a tiny orange beak glued on become the cutest little chicks. Clip them along a basket edge or a string of lights.
These are quick enough to make a whole flock in one sitting, no exaggeration, lol!
- A whole flock in one sitting
- Clips onto lights or baskets
Wooden Bunny Napkin Rings
Wooden bunny napkin rings dress up an Easter table without much effort at all. A slice of wood dowel, a painted bunny face and a bit of glue does the trick.
These make a nice little gift too, especially when a few are tied together with ribbon for a coworker or neighbor. A little tag with their name adds a nice touch.
- Doubles as a small gift
- Wood dowel slices
Wood Slice Bunny Magnets
Wood slice bunny magnets are a fun little project for the fridge. Paint a simple bunny face on each slice and glue a magnet to the back.
These make a sweet party favor too, small enough to tuck into a goodie bag without adding much cost. Who doesn’t love a favor that costs less than a dollar?
- Magnet glued to the back
- Great as a party favor
Popsicle Stick Egg Puzzle
Last but definitely not least, we have this popsicle stick egg puzzle. Glue several sticks side by side and paint an egg pattern across all of them. Then cut the sticks apart.
Mix the sticks up and the neighborhood kids reassemble the picture like a simple puzzle. It sounds almost too easy, but that is exactly why it works, lol!
- Deceptively simple, genuinely fun
- Sticks cut apart after painting
- Reassembles like a mini puzzle
